National Homes' current new home community in Brampton, Ontario is DUO Condos and Towns: two towers on Steeles Avenue West near Hurontario Street, co-developed with Brixen Developments Inc. and presented by the builder as "Move-In Ready Brampton". In 2021 Jason Pantalone of National Homes said the company had developed "over 1,850 homes in eight communities" in Brampton since 1992, and per the HCRA Ontario Builder Directory, more homes were enrolled under the National Homes umbrella in Brampton from 2003 to 2024 than in any other city. This article maps that record by intersection, then sets out what a buyer can check about DUO today.

Key takeaways

  • DUO Condos and Towns: two towers on Steeles Avenue West near Hurontario Street, co-developed by National Homes and Brixen Developments Inc. Sales office: 260 Malta Avenue, 647-270-6293.
  • The builder lists DUO as "Steps from the Gateway Terminal and Future Hurontario LRT". Metrolinx describes the Hazel McCallion Line as light rail from Port Credit GO to Brampton Gateway Terminal and gives no opening date on its project pages.
  • DUO won the OHBA Awards of Distinction 2025, High or Mid-Rise Amenity (with Brixen Developments Inc.) and NAHB The Nationals, Multifamily Community of the Year, presented in February 2026.
  • National's own figure (2021): "over 1,850 homes in eight communities" in Brampton since 1992. Per the HCRA Ontario Builder Directory, 757 Brampton homes were enrolled under the umbrella from 2003 to 2024.
  • DUO's amenities, sizes, fees and occupancy details are not on nationalhomes.com; the project's own site, duocondos.ca, publishes its amenities and has a Floorplans page.

DUO Condos and Towns: National Homes in Brampton now

The builder's DUO page carries the heading "Condos in Brampton Now Selling" and places the development on Steeles Avenue West near Hurontario Street. Brixen Developments Inc. is National's co-developer, as the Ontario Home Builders' Association's 2025 winners list records.

The home page presents DUO as "Move-In Ready Brampton", and the builder's townhomes page speaks of "move-in ready townhomes in Brampton". Those are the builder's words; what is available on a given day is for the DUO sales office at 260 Malta Avenue, Brampton, 647-270-6293, to confirm.

The builder's location lines read: "Steps from the Gateway Terminal and Future Hurontario LRT", "1-Minute to Sheridan College" and "Walking Distance to Stores and Restaurants", and on the home page, "Minutes from the Brampton Gateway, Brampton GO Station and future LRT." The DUO page adds: "The place where parks and schools are within touching distance."

Amenities, sizes, fees and occupancy details are not on nationalhomes.com. The project's own site, duocondos.ca, publishes its amenities and has a Floorplans page; fees and occupancy are for the sales office to confirm.

Who this matters to: a buyer who wants a new suite or townhome in Brampton from a builder with a long record in the city, and a buyer on a timeline, since the builder markets DUO as move-in ready.

Brampton Gateway Terminal and the Hazel McCallion Line (Hurontario LRT)

The "Future Hurontario LRT" in the builder's line has a new name. In Metrolinx's words: "Metrolinx is naming the Hurontario light rail transit (LRT) project as the Hazel McCallion Line, to commemorate the former Mississauga mayor." Its project page describes the line as "18km of light rail transit from Port Credit GO to Brampton Gateway Terminal".

The City of Brampton puts the route "along the Hurontario corridor between the Brampton Gateway Terminal at Steeles Avenue in Brampton and the Port Credit GO Station in Mississauga", with three stops in the city: "Ray Lawson, County Court and Brampton Gateway Terminal". Brampton Gateway Terminal is the line's Brampton end.

On status, Metrolinx writes in the future tense: the line, "once in service", "will feature 19 stops" and connect to GO Transit, Brampton Transit, ZUM and MiWay, among others. Its updates page speaks of work "as construction continues in Peel Region". No page read for this article on September 30, 2026 gives an opening date, so none is given here.

Who this matters to: a household planning its commute around rapid transit. The route and the builder's location are published today; a travel time and an opening day are not, and the line's status is for Metrolinx to report.

Two awards for DUO, with the year and the category

Both can be checked on the awarding bodies' own lists.

  • OHBA Awards of Distinction 2025, High or Mid-Rise Amenity. The Ontario Home Builders' Association's 2025 winners release lists, under that category, "National Homes; Brixen Developments Inc. for DUO Condos - Brampton".
  • NAHB The Nationals, Multifamily Community of the Year, presented in February 2026. The National Association of Home Builders' release of February 19, 2026, from its International Builders' Show in Orlando, lists "Project name: DUO Condos", "Location: Brampton, ON, Canada" and "By: National Homes".

Who this matters to: a buyer reading marketing copy. NAHB describes The Nationals as honouring "top achievements in residential real estate sales, marketing, individual achievement and global excellence". Neither award speaks to a particular suite, its price or what is available today.

National Homes in Brampton since 1992: the map by intersection

National Homes' Brampton story is older than DUO. In the November 1, 2021 release that launched DUO, as reported by the Daily Commercial News the next day, Jason Pantalone of National Homes said: "Since 1992, we have had the great privilege of contributing to Brampton's growth and evolution, including the development of over 1,850 homes in eight communities." In the same statement he called DUO "one of the city's first highrise condos".

The builder's past-communities page lists that Brampton work by intersection and home count; the table keeps its figures and descriptions (lot widths in feet). Only Ravines of Castlemore West is named in the page's text, so the others appear by location.

Source: National Homes, Past Communities (low rise), read September 30, 2026. A dash means this article does not repeat a figure for that entry. DUO is added for reference and is not a past community.

Read as a map, the list has a centre of gravity: three entries at or near Airport Road and Sandalwood, a fourth at Torbram Road and Sandalwood. The homes range from townhomes to singles on lots up to 80 feet wide. Every past Brampton entry is low-rise, and the builder's past high-rise page lists projects in Toronto and Markham only. On National's own record, DUO is its one Brampton community of condominium towers, on the corridor where the Hazel McCallion Line's route ends.

Who this matters to: a buyer new to the builder. A record in the same city can be driven: these intersections are where the builder says it built.

What the HCRA Ontario Builder Directory shows for Brampton

Ontario's Home Construction Regulatory Authority publishes the Ontario Builder Directory. Per the HCRA Ontario Builder Directory, 757 homes in Brampton were enrolled under the National Homes umbrella between 2003 and 2024, more than in any other city on its list; Burlington is next at 399, of 2,301 enrolments in all.

DUO's condominium project is held under National Brixen (Steeles) Inc., licence B60541. The directory lists one condominium project under that licence, "Duo Condos" at 260 Malta Ave., with the status "Completed", and no chargeable conciliations or claims paid under it.

For the umbrella as a whole, the directory shows 1,397 possessions between 2016 and 2026 (639 freehold and 758 condominium), three chargeable conciliations, two minor claims totalling $80,378.38 and zero major claims. These figures were fetched from the directory on September 30, 2026 and may change as the registry updates.

One caution: the directory's enrolment list starts in 2003, so it can neither confirm nor contradict the company's own 1992-onward figure. The two measure different things and are kept apart here.

Who this matters to: every buyer. The directory is open to anyone: look up the builder, then the licence that holds the project.

New builds in Brampton, Ontario, for sale: five checks before you visit

The same five checks apply to any new build in Brampton. Here they are, with DUO's answers.

  1. The licence. Find the project in the HCRA Ontario Builder Directory. DUO's condominium project is listed under licence B60541, National Brixen (Steeles) Inc.
  2. The awards. An award should come with a year, a category and the body that gave it, and appear on that body's own list. DUO's two are listed above.
  3. The transit. A future line is not a running line. Check its status with the agency building it; for the Hazel McCallion Line, that is Metrolinx.
  4. The tax window. National Homes' Skip the Tax page states: "The HST New Housing Rebate is for One Year Only from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027." It adds: "*Prices reflect estimated values after rebate." DUO in Brampton is among the three communities whose sales teams the page lists, and the builder's footnote, repeated on the DUO page, says: "Eligibility for HST initiatives is determined by the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario." The government rules are explained in The HST Rebate on a New Home in Ontario, April 2026 to March 2027: What It Means at Northshore, DUO and Whitehorn Woods.
  5. What is available today. Plans, sizes, fees and occupancy change. For DUO, the amenities and a Floorplans page are on duocondos.ca, and the rest is for the sales office at 260 Malta Avenue, 647-270-6293, to confirm.

Burlington or Brampton: which is better for families?

Neither city is better for every family, and this article does not rank them. What can be compared honestly is what National Homes offers in each today, in the builder's own words.

For a family, the deciding questions are practical: where the adults work, which schools serve the address (the school board confirms this, not the builder), how many bedrooms are needed, and the carrying cost after closing. For the Burlington side, see the builder's Northshore Condos and Towns page and read New Condos in Burlington, Ontario: Northshore's Move-In Ready Suites and Finished Amenities and Move-In Ready Condos Near Aldershot GO: Northshore, Burlington, for People Who Commute.
